Eugene Duvenage has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Eugene started their career in 1996 at Skye Advanced Technologies, where they served as an Engineer, creating and deploying artificial intelligence solutions for large South African industrial corporations. Eugene then became the Chief Engineering Manager, leading high-value international consulting projects and acquiring multiple broadband spectrum licenses for a USA-based telecommunications partner in European countries.
In 2004, Duvenage co-founded Elzaris Technologies, a successful software consulting business. Eugene provided expert guidance and support to clients across various industries, led software development consulting services at large financial institutions, and designed and built database tools that were sold as downloadable products.
From 2010 to 2012, Duvenage served as a Co-Founder at Setta Furniture. Then in 2012, they joined SA Home Loans, where they held two roles. As a Technology and Innovation Specialist, they established a data-driven culture and developed innovative business prototypes, including chat-bots for client engagement and machine learning-based loan default and customer sentiment models. Eugene also served as the Lead IT Architect, modernizing the software architecture using cloud and open source technologies and introducing DevOps processes.
From 2019 to 2023, Duvenage worked at Private Property as the Chief Technology Officer. Eugene modernized the property portal in South Africa by building a culture of delivery, collaboration, and technical mastery. Eugene led the migration of processes, systems, and product changes across all business units, established the use of SCRUM methodologies, and promoted agile project management.
In 2023, Duvenage joined SelfDecode as the Chief Technology Officer, although no specific details concerning this role were provided.
Eugene Duvenage completed their Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electronic) degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal from 1993 to 1996, specializing in Electronic Engineering. Later, they pursued a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from the University of the Western Cape from 2008 to 2009.
