CEO at Semicolon

Sam Immanuel has worked in the software engineering industry since 2003. Sam began their career at Accenture as a Software Engineer, where they developed a counter party trade management system in Java for UBS Fixed Income group, led a team to capture, refine and document business requirements using UML, RUP etc., implemented integration of data systems post acquisition of Woolwich by Barclays, and designed and developed core components in migrating banking platform from Mainframe to Java/J2EE.

In 2006, they moved to Man Investments as a Senior Software Engineer - Marketing and Client Services, where they developed trading and investment management platforms in enterprise Java and other technologies, developed platforms supporting launch of new fund products quarterly each raising about $500M, served as Enterprise Architect for e-commerce investment sale/management platform, acted as Scrum Master for project sprints, and was the DEVOPS engineer for CI/CD environment.

In 2010, Sam Immanuel joined IBM as an Industry Solutions Channel Sales Manager, where they promoted sales of ECM, Smarter Commerce, B2B Integration, enterprise marketing management, and fraud management using i2. Sam also oversaw various strategic partnerships with global (Accenture, KPMG, PwC) and local ISVs.

In 2012, they moved to Oracle as a Middleware Territory Sales Manager, where they managed and optimized sale of Fusion Middleware (data integration, enterprise integration, SOA, BPM, ECM) to clientele within FSI, telecom, oil & gas and public sectors. Sam also created business plan and go-to-market strategy for FMW, and identified and recruited partners, jointly building development plans and defining business targets.

In 2014, Sam Immanuel joined SAP as a Sales Manager, where they led regional Telecommunications business and collaborated with System Integration Partners and clients in developing new service lines and revenue streams by enabling Digital Services Platforms for business customers. Sam also launched cloud services for mobility, IoT and utility billing.

In 2016, they moved to Teradata as a Client Partner.

Finally, in 2018, they joined Semicolon Africa as the CEO. At Semicolon Africa, they are leading a team working to turn Nigeria's army of job seekers into an army of software engineers by providing training in Design Thinking, Software Engineering, and Business Management.

Sam Immanuel has an extensive education history. Sam obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics from the University of Ilorin between 1995 and 1999. Sam then went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Software Engineering from the University of Westminster between 2002 and 2003. Finally, they completed a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management, General from Imperial College London between 2006 and 2007. In addition, they have obtained several certifications from Sun Microsystems and Oracle, including Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (2006), Sun Certified Business Component Developer (2005), Sun Certified Web Component Developer (2005), Oracle Certified Professional (2001), and Sun Certified Java Programmer (2001).
