David Agus has an extensive work experience spanning various roles and organizations. David is the Founding Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine since 2009. In addition, they co-founded Project Rōnin and Sensei in 2018. David has also written multiple books, including "The Lucky Years: How to thrive in the brave new world of health" and "A Short Guide to a Long Life." At the University of Southern California, they served as a Professor of Medicine and Engineering, as well as the Director of the Center for Applied Molecular Medicine and the Westside Cancer Center. David co-founded Applied Proteomics, Inc. and Navigenics, Inc. and worked as a Science Consultant for Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure. Furthermore, they held positions at Cedars-Sinai as the Research Director and Director of the Spielberg Family Center for Applied Proteomics.
David Agus graduated from Princeton University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular Biology. David then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 1987 to 1991, where they obtained their MD degree in Medicine. Following this, they completed an Osler Internship and Residency in Medicine at John Hopkins Hospital from 1992 to 1994. Finally, they pursued a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 1994 to 1997.
