Matthew de Roode

Matthew de Roode is an experienced professional in project management and innovation within the food and agriculture sectors. Currently serving as Project Manager for Cosun RD&I at Royal Cosun, Matthew focuses on the commercialization of the Inicio demoscale production plant and supports venturing activities. Matthew has held the role of Innovation Manager at Sensus since 2012, where responsibilities include defining and managing the innovation strategy related to chicory and inulin. Additionally, Matthew contributes to the startup ecosystem as a mentor at StartLife and offers tours as a guide for De Rotterdam Tours. A former Corporate Development Manager at Royal Cosun, Matthew has also lectured part-time at Haagse Hogeschool and held various positions in product and project management at NIZO Food Research and Sara Lee. Matthew earned a PhD in Bioprocess Technology from Wageningen University & Research and holds MSc and BSc degrees from the University of Amsterdam and Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, respectively.
