John Leitner

John Leitner has an extensive work experience in the legal field. John currently serves as the Deputy General Counsel & Head of Privacy at SentiLink, a position they have held since April 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Meta as a Privacy Policy specialist, where they led privacy infrastructure policy work and advised on privacy strategy from March 2022 to April 2023.

From 2019 to 2022, John worked at the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB) as an Attorney-Advisor. In this role, they led projects to protect privacy and civil liberties in national security programs. John evaluated the privacy implications of various technologies such as AI, biometric identification, and blockchain.

From 2016 to 2019, John served as Of Counsel at DLA Piper, advising clients on complex investment transactions and corporate governance issues. John counseled senior management of investment advisers and operating companies, as well as fund managers and investors on CFIUS interpretation and compliance.

Prior to that, John gained experience as a Law Clerk at the United States District Court in 2015-2016, working with Hon. George Z. Singal. John began their legal career as an Associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP from 2007 to 2009, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, securities law, and corporate governance matters.

John's academic background includes teaching positions as an Assistant Professor of Law at Seoul National University from 2009 to 2012, where they co-founded the SNU Center for Energy and Environmental Law and Policy, and as a Visiting Scholar in 2016. John also practiced as a Senior Associate at Baker Botts from 2012 to 2015, specializing in investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, securities law, and regulatory compliance.

John Leitner completed their Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, at the University of Notre Dame from 2000 to 2004. Following that, they pursued their Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, at Harvard Law School from 2004 to 2007. No specific field of study was mentioned for either degree.
