Ian Haggerty has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Ian started their career at Gary Greenhouse Inc as a Horticultural Worker, where they maintained thousands of plants and managed an irrigation system. Ian then worked as a Page Composer & Wrestling Reporter at Purdue Exponent, collaborating with reporters and editors to finalize stories and covering Purdue Wrestling events.
Ian later joined Software Engineering Professionals (SEP) as a Software Engineering Intern, contributing to frontend and backend components of a multi-tenant cloud application. Ian learned Angular, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and CI/CD tools during this role and enhanced application security by improving open source software dependencies.
Ian also gained valuable experience as an R&D Software Engineering Intern at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, developing an Angular user interface for a chemistry instrument and increasing test coverage by building a mock backend.
Ian continued their journey at Purdue University as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, supporting student engineering teams, maintaining course tools in Python, and providing grading and conflict resolution assistance.
Currently, Ian is working at SEP as a Software Engineer 1, starting in July 2021. Ian has recently been promoted to Software Engineer 2 in May 2023.
Ian Haggerty completed their Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Purdue University, attending from 2017 to 2021. In March 2021, they obtained the Terminal Live Spring 2021 Midwest Regional certification from Correlation One.
