Michael Broeker

Michael Broeker has had a varied and extensive work experience. In 2021, they began working as a Laboratory Operations Manager for Septerna. In 2013, they began working at the University of California, San Francisco as a Staff Research Associate III and Lab Manager (SRA III). In this role, they acted as a liaison/point of contact for lab members, neighboring labs, housekeeping, facilities, logistics, EH&S, administrators, architects, contractors, repair technicians and Alumni. Michael also served as a special project coordinator in both design and construction phases. From 1990 to 2013, they worked as a Mixed/Multi-media Sculptor, crafting sculptures from a variety of materials with a focus on clay and marketing and selling finished work. In 2013, they also began working as an Assistant Specialist III for the Wendell Lim Lab, and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant for the Thomson Lab and an Undergraduate Research Experience for the Lomvardas Lab. From 2009 to 2013, they worked as a Sculptor/Studio Assistant for Clarkmade.com and a Studio Assistant for Clarkmade.com San Francisco, helping in production and finishing of sculptural sinks and urinals, refining surfaces of sculptures, mixing and testing glazes, studio organization and maintenance, quality control, and packing and shipping finished work. From 2009 to 2008, they worked as a Sales/Cashier for Sur La Table and a Corporate Visual Merchandiser for Peek & Cloppenburg.

Michael Broeker attended the University at Buffalo from 1989 to 1995, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Ceramic Arts and Ceramics. Michael is currently enrolled at City College of San Francisco, where they are pursuing a degree in Biotechnology.
