Tuff Yen is the current CEO of Seraph Group, a venture capital firm specializing in seed stage investment in high-tech startups. Tuff has over 25 years of experience in the industry, starting their career as a bioengineer before moving into venture capitalism.
Yen's first venture capitalist position was with Chemical Venture from January 1994 to December 1998. Tuff then moved to H&Q Asia Pacific, where they were VP from August 1998 to May 2000. In September 2000, they joined Chase Capital Partners as a venture capitalist, where they remained until August 1998.
Yen has been with Seraph Group since it was established in 2004. Tuff has helped the company invest in over 100 companies with 9 different venture funds. Areas of interest for Yen and Seraph Group include Internet, enterprise software, telecommunication, medical and life science, aerospace, cyber-security, blockchain, media, virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence.
Tuff Yen first earned their Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Yale School of Management. Tuff then pursued a career in social work and earned their law degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Finally, they completed their education with a degree in social work from National Taiwan University.
