Thomas O'Connor has extensive maritime experience, currently serving as Third Mate on the RSV Nuyina at Serco since January 2021. Prior to this role, Thomas held the position of Senior Bridge Watchkeeper and Dynamic Positioning Operator at Serco Defence from December 2015 to November 2021. Experience also includes serving as Chief Officer, Second Mate, and Dynamic Positioning Operator on the MV Seahorse Spirit with DMS Maritime from March 2011 to December 2014, and various positions in operations and deck crew at Reality Cruises and Coral Princess Cruises between 2005 and 2009. Thomas has advanced education in maritime studies, including a Bachelor of Nautical Science from the University of Tasmania and an Advanced Dynamic Positioning degree from the Australian Maritime College, alongside various other educational qualifications in arts and general studies.
