Jonathan Powell has a diverse work experience that spans across multiple companies and roles. Jonathan started their career as a Production Designer at mStoner, where they were responsible for selecting and categorizing graphic and image assets for various projects. Jonathan also gained experience in adjusting and optimizing images for web viewing, working with content management systems, and providing programming support.
After mStoner, Jonathan worked as a Web Developer at CardRunners, where they initially focused on front-end development but eventually expanded their skills to include backend technologies and team development. Jonathan learned from senior developers and took on additional responsibilities when the company acquired HoldemManager and started a side project called DraftDay.
Following their time at CardRunners, Jonathan joined DraftDay as a Web Developer, where their responsibilities included converting PSDs into interactive user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Jonathan also worked on more complex backend tasks using Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP.
In 2014, Jonathan joined John Wiley and Sons as a Web Developer, where they worked independently and collaboratively to create interactive learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate level courses. Jonathan also developed an in-house MEAN stack application and deployed it to AWS, improving productivity for their coworkers.
From 2016 to 2018, Jonathan worked as a Software Engineer at OpticsPlanet, Inc., where they gained experience in software development. Jonathan then returned to John Wiley and Sons as a Web Developer, further contributing to the company's projects.
In 2018, Jonathan joined Dealer Inspire as a Product Developer IMS, gaining expertise in product development.
Recently in 2021, Jonathan joined uShip as a Senior Software Engineer, where they contributed to the development of software systems.
Currently, Jonathan is serving as a Senior Software Engineer at Series, where they play a crucial role in the development of software solutions. Jonathan has also taken on additional responsibilities as a Software Engineering Manager.
Jonathan Powell graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia from Columbia College Chicago. In addition to their degree, they also obtained several certifications from Amazon Web Services (AWS). Jonathan became an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate in March 2018 and also achieved the AWS Certified Developer - Associate certification in the same month and year. Most recently, in May 2020, they obtained the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate certification.
