Mathieu Pizzonero

Mathieu Pizzonero is an experienced medicinal chemist with a strong background in drug discovery and development. Currently serving as Associate Director at Servier since March 2020, Mathieu has managed multiple teams of chemists globally, focusing on lead optimization in oncology and neurology. Previously, at Galapagos from May 2009 to March 2020, Mathieu held positions including Team Leader and Senior Scientist, where significant contributions included the identification of a preclinical candidate for fibrosis treatment and the development of novel cystic fibrosis therapies. Earlier in the career, Mathieu worked as a Research Scientist at GlaxoSmithKline, specializing in cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of York. Mathieu holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Université Paris Sud and an MSc in Chemistry from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille.
