Michael Botta

Michael Botta is a Co-Founder at Sesame. Prior to that, they worked as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company from August 2013 to September 2018. At McKinsey, Michael led multi-million dollar engagements across the health care and life sciences industries. Michael was responsible for managing teams on strategy, advanced analytics, value-based payment, and a broad range of health care payment reform issues. Michael also consulted on projects spanning McKinsey’s strategy & corporate finance, innovation, business technology, organization design, merger management, and marketing & sales practices.

Some of the notable projects that Michael worked on include:

-Managing a strategic M&A assessment in Health Tech for the CFO of a Fortune 500 multinational conglomerate; resulted in a multimillion dollar acquisition of the top recommended target.

-Developing business and implantation plans, and generating stakeholder buy-in, for a portfolio of new payment models for a public health insurer, generating over $10 million in savings in the first full year of operation.

-Managing the restructuring a regional health system ($7b in annual revenue) to redirect talent to manage value-based care initiatives, incorporating new IT infrastructure alongside new business processes.

-Designed and built a new, value-based provider network for a large ($4b in annual revenue) regional health system, using advanced analytics to predict and recruit high-performing physicians across a state network.

-Managed a 6+ month engagement to develop, test, and refine the Medicare growth strategy for the CEO of a Fortune 100 healthcare company, supporting their continued transition to a technology-enabled value-based care company.

-Led a commercial viability assessment to identify new business opportunities in public health insurance programs for a Fortune 100 private health insurer to enter and highlight optimal pathways for successful market entry across several US regions.

-Developed and implemented several episodes of care and comprehensive PCMH model for multi-payer coalition funded by federal SIM grant.

Michael Botta received their Ph.D. in Health Policy/Economics from Harvard University. Prior to that, they received their A.B. in Biology and Public Policy from Princeton University. Michael also attended Regis High School.

Their manager is David Goldhill, Co-Founder & CEO. They are on a team with Chase Knight - VP, Sales & Partnerships, Kris Hoffman - VP, Provider & Customer Success, and Michelle Joseph - VP, Finance & Strategy.
