Seventh Generation Rising (SGR) is an Indigenous-led nonprofit based in Northern California, working at the intersection of land, culture, and community. We restore relationships between people and place by uplifting Indigenous leadership, revitalizing cultural knowledge, and building pathways for healing and resilience.

Our programs support land stewardship, cultural fire practices, wilderness education, and intergenerational healing. Whether guiding backpacking trips on ancestral lands, training youth in cultural fire and land restoration, or creating spaces for cultural connection, SGR makes space for remembering—and rising.

Key Programs:

Indigenous Fire & Land Stewardship: TEK-informed training in prescribed fire, ecological restoration, and cultural burning practices.

Wilderness Initiative: Backpacking and outdoor education that reconnect Indigenous youth and families to land, ancestral knowledge, and community strength.

Healing Through Land: Intergenerational experiences that promote cultural identity, environmental learning, and collective healing.

We walk alongside our partners—including the California Conservation Corps, the Confederation of Ohlone People, and local families—to protect land, empower youth, and sustain cultural lifeways for generations to come.
