David Senn

Program Director, Clean Water Program at San Francisco Estuary Institute

David Senn is a highly experienced scientist with a focus on environmental health and water management. Currently serving as a Senior Scientist at the San Francisco Estuary Institute since 2011, David leads the San Francisco Bay Nutrient Management Strategy and co-directs the SFEI Clean Water Program. Prior roles include Senior Scientist positions at ETH Zürich and Eawag, as well as a Research Associate position at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where David conducted significant research on heavy metal transport in coastal ecosystems. David earned a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in the same field from Rutgers University. David's extensive background also includes teaching and research roles at various institutions, with a strong emphasis on contaminant dynamics and the impacts of human activity on aquatic environments.
