Ellen Plane is a Senior Scientist at the San Francisco Estuary Institute since August 2019, specializing in shoreline resilience, nature-based adaptation, baylands restoration, and rising groundwater, with a focus on geospatial analyses for sea-level rise solutions. Prior to this role, Ellen held multiple positions at the University of California, Berkeley, including Environmental Scientist and Graduate Student, earning concurrent Master's degrees in Landscape Architecture in Environmental Planning and City and Regional Planning in 2019. Ellen's experience also includes an Environmental Planning Internship with the National Park Service, where vulnerability assessments and planning workshops were conducted, and a Research Analyst role at Industrial Economics, Incorporated, focusing on Natural Resource Damage Assessments. Additional internships ranged from analyzing Arctic climate data at Dartmouth College to building coalitions for environmental initiatives at Environment America. Ellen holds a BA in Biology from Dartmouth College.
