Shade is a faith based non-profit organization empowering children, families, and communities affected by albinism and other vulnerabilities in Tanzania. We work to see people with albinism and other vulnerabilities accepted and respected in their communities and living as productive citizens, safe and free from persecution.

People with albinism in Tanzania face discrimination, stigmatization, and rejection by their families. Dangerous beliefs promoted by witch doctors lead to the brutal maiming and murder of these people for their body parts, which are used in rituals thought to bring luck and wealth.

Led by US Executive Director, Claire Fedele, and Country Executive Director, John Migila, a Tanzanian with albinism, Shade works in three predominant areas:
•	Education: Children are provided a quality education at Shade School regardless of disability, background or income level. Children with albinism and their peers learn together, establishing unity among diversity.
•	Advocacy: Reducing/eliminating persecution and discrimination of youth and adults with albinism and other vulnerabilities through seminars and training events available to surrounding communities.
•	Outreach: Shade equips and empowers young adults and families to create lasting change. Shade Community Club teaches local youth life skills and practical training to generate sustainable incomes. Shade scholarship families receive an individualized plan of support which may include small business loans, medical services, or essential food supplies.
