ShadowBall is a revolutionary rugby training aid that enables 300 solo passes and catches in 10 minutes and is scientifically proven to increase passing accuracy by as much as 266% in 4 weeks.

Looking like half a rugby ball, the ShadowBall is engineered to rebound and spin back when the flat edge is passed or thrown against a wall. A proudly South African innovation that is protected under South African registered design F2014/005544, the ShadowBall was created by Gary Crookes. It enables solo repetition training, anytime, anywhere, and in a technically correct manner.

Aimed at school players all the way up to professionals, ShadowBall is designed according to IRB specifications, so it matches the weight and diameter of an IRB specification match ball. High quality, durable and hand stitched, ShadowBall enables players of all ages and levels to perfect passing, catching and throwing skills and techniques – in their own time, unsupervised, at their own performance pace, and independently.

This revolutionary training aid has games and drills specifically design for the ShadowBall by the Centre for Human Performance Sciences. The ShadowBall team have developed structured drills specifically developed to improve rugby passing and catching, and better the five key components of superior athleticism: speed, power, agility, reaction and quickness. Of course, it will always be fun to just practice throwing a ball against a wall – and now rugby players can do that too!

ShadowBall is a game changer that brings a new era in rugby– the dawn of solo rugby passing and catching training. Our vision is to uplift the level of rugby in South Africa and beyond.
