Shana Simmons Dance (SSD) is a contemporary dance company that continually produces high quality and engaging performance experiences through a variety of mediums. Between one major, researched-based production as well as multiple smaller live and online performances per year, SSD offers the opportunity for meaningful dance experiences through collaboration with outside organizations who connect with potent social topics. SSD’s productions highlight environmental concerns, mental health awareness and prevention, struggles with self identity, racial equity, and culturally trending topics. SSD looks forward to expand its performance offerings to additional educational programs and community events that integrate dance with learning and socializing in order to expand its network and SPEAK to the Greater Pittsburgh region through movement.

SSD projects have partnered with Grounded/Allegheny Cleanways, Dafna Rehavia, Carnegie Museum of Art, Bryce Dance Co, NYC, The Moving Architects, NYC, Alzheimer’s Association, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the National Aviary, Strong Women, Strong Girls, Project Passenger Pigeon, The Eclectic Laboratory Chamber Orchestra, Amanda Morrison, VALEES Conference, Chicago, Leadership Illinois Conference, Chicago, the Indiana University of PA, Stacy Abalogun, London, and Patricio Forrester/Artmongers, London.
