Alfonso Alvarez began their work experience in 2008 as a Trainee in BiW Construction at Bertrandt. Their responsibilities included design and weight reduction studies of BiW parts using CATIA V5 and leading the CAD construction and proposing technical solutions for sliding hatches and composite panels in yacht construction. Alfonso had close contact with the European engineering sector during this time.
In 2010, Alvarez joined SEGULA Technologies as a BiW Designer. Alfonso was involved in the development of structural parts, interfaces, and analysis of feasibility for a major French automaker. Alvarez also had development and advancement meetings with customers to provide tailored design solutions and was responsible for PDM and CAD assembly of BiW modules and parts for mass production vehicles.
Alvarez then became the Lead BiW Engineer at SEGULA Technologies in 2014. In this role, they continued their responsibilities in BiW design and also took on the leadership of the BiW engineering team.
Since 2015, Alvarez has been working as a Product Development Engineer at Shape Corp. Further details about this role were not provided.
Alfonso Alvarez obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes, which they attended from 2001 to 2008. After completing their undergraduate degree, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Automotive Engineering from Ecole Supérieure des Techniques Aéronautiques et de Construction Automobile, where they studied from 2008 to 2011.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Alfonso also obtained certifications outside of their formal education. In November 2008, they became a CAD Specialist in CATIA V5 after completing a program at Bertrandt Ingenierbüro GmbH. Later, in November 2015, Alfonso obtained a certification in GD&T ASME Y14.5 and Assembly Stack Ups from Dimensional Management Systems (GD&T).
