Gavin Waite has worked in a variety of roles since 2016. In 2016, they completed a 3 month summer internship as a Digital Design Engineer at Cirrus Logic. During this time, they were responsible for Verilog digital design, code documentation and review and maintaining intranet wiki pages. In 2017, they returned to Cirrus Logic for an 8 month research and development project in digital electronic engineering to design a new digital interface module. Gavin'stasks included analysing technical specification documents, software modelling and prototyping in Python, Verilog digital design, digital simulation and verification with Python and SystemVerilog and FPGA hardware verification. Gavin'sproject won the University prize for the best and most industrially relevant project and the final design was successfully patented. In 2019, they worked as a Workflow Advisor at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. Gavin'sduties included processing, allocating and tracking incoming correspondence and Official Information Act requests into the Ministry. Gavin also used their software background to create a set of Excel macros and scripts to greatly improve the efficiency of several tasks and provide faster data visualisation. In the same year, they also worked as an IT Office Support Contractor at H2R Consulting, where they migrated laptop and desktop computers from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Gavin'stasks included setting up new user laptops, installing required software/permissions and reconfiguring desk hardware, as well as solving user technical issues. Currently, they are working at Sharebite as a Site Reliability Engineer and Software Test Engineer.

Gavin Waite attended George Watson's College from 1999 to 2012, where they completed their High School degree. In 2013, they obtained a Level 1 Ski Instructor certification from CSIA British Columbia. That same year, they began their Master of Engineering - MEng in Electronic and Software Engineering at The University of Edinburgh, which they completed in 2018. In 2015, they attended Harvard University for a three month Summer Programme.
