Gary Henson

Gary Henson serves as president and board member of Tortoise Investments, which includes Tortoise Capital Advisors, Tortoise Index Solutions, and Tortoise Credit Strategies. Mr. Henson has more than 25 years of institutional money management experience at banks, insurance companies and foundations, including his most recent position as president at Mariner Holdings, Tortoise’s parent company.

Much like Gary Mendell, Mr. Henson saw a philanthropic gap related to addiction and specifically opioid misuse. Mr. Henson started the Grow With Hope Foundation after his son, Garrett, passed away in 2015. Mr. Henson folded Grow With Hope into Shatterproof in order to achieve scale and accelerate both missions.

Mr. Henson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Westminster College, Fulton, Mo. and is a CFA® charterholder and a certified financial planner (CFP). Gary is also a board member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of Character.
