Founded in 1988 in Karachi, Citizens for a Better Environment (Shehri-CBE) is a non-political, non-profit, and non-governmental organization registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. Shehri-CBE was established by a group of concerned citizens as a platform for raising collective voices, addressing urban challenges, and promoting sustainable reforms to improve the quality of life in Karachi.

From its first seminar in November 1988, Shehri-CBE has been at the forefront of research, advocacy, and public awareness, particularly in the fields of urban land management and governance. Over the years, we have built a reputation for bridging the gap between citizens, government officials, academics, and the media, bringing all stakeholders to the table to find practical solutions for Karachi’s environmental and civic issues.

Our core objectives:
- Researching, documenting, and sharing information on laws, regulations, and policies related to the environment.
-Advocating against violations of environmental and urban governance laws.
- Raising public awareness on issues that impact a healthy, secure, and sustainable environment.

Shehri-CBE continues to play a leading role in promoting accountability, transparency, and citizen participation with a vision to make Karachi a sustainable, tolerant, healthy, and prosperous city.
