Eric Schmitt

Eric Schmitt is an experienced engineer and data scientist with a strong background in mechanical engineering and applied AI. Currently serving as an AI Resident at Shell, Eric explores AI applications in the shift towards cleaner energy solutions. As a Technical Advisor, Co-Founder, and Data Scientist at Salient since January 2021, Eric leverages ocean and atmospheric data with machine learning for accurate long-range weather predictions, achieving recognition through a prize challenge. Eric's prior roles include Senior Engineer at Veryst Engineering, LLC, where extensive work in product design, failure analysis, and multiphysics simulations was performed, alongside consulting roles at various organizations. Eric holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University.
