Karen Thijs is an accomplished professional in the oil and gas industry with extensive experience in well engineering and management. Currently serving as GM Well, Reservoir & Facility Management at Shell since January 2018, Karen is also the Global Process Owner and Director of SEPWES and SPDVIII. Prior to this role, Karen held various senior positions, including VP Wells Intervention & Abandonment, and Well Operations Manager for the Gulf of Mexico. From April 2011 to January 2018, Karen was with Petroleum Development Oman as the Well Engineering Planning & Design Manager, leading the planning and design for over 45 rigs and delivering approximately 500 new wells annually. Earlier career experiences include significant roles at Shell and Schlumberger, with a strong focus on well engineering, project leadership, and design management. Karen holds an M.Sc. in Mining & Petroleum Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
