Mehmet Onal

Mehmet Onal has extensive experience in policy and regulation, particularly within the fields of climate change and economics. Notably, Onal served as a member of the Policy & Economics Committee and co-chair of the CO2 Transport Working Group at the Zero Emissions Platform from November 2019 to August 2021, while also contributing to the Regulation and Policy Working Group at the Carbon Capture and Storage Association during the same period. Previous roles include a political advisor at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and assistant director at the Atlantic Council. Onal has also held various positions at Shell, including project manager and group climate policy advisor, where expertise in Corporate Relations was developed. Currently, Onal is a columnist at T24 and continues to work at Shell as Chief of Staff to the VP of Corporate Relations for MENA & CIS. Early experience includes research with the House of Commons and an internship with UNHCR.
