Ray Valente

Ray Valente is a marine scientist with over 30 years of experience in environmental consulting, currently serving as a Senior Biodiversity Adviser at Shell Global Solutions. They have held various roles, including Senior Marine Scientist and Project Manager at SAIC, where they contributed to significant environmental monitoring projects and pioneered sediment-profile imaging techniques in Hong Kong. An independent consultant for a decade, Ray specialized in aquatic monitoring and impact assessment, focusing on benthic habitats. Educated with a Master of Science in Marine Environmental Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, they are also in the process of developing a networking website for newly unemployed professionals.
