Stan van Gisbergen

Stan van Gisbergen is a seasoned petroleum engineering professional with over two decades of experience in various leadership roles. Currently serving as the Global Petroleum Engineering/Production Technology Discipline Head for Integrated Gas, Carbon Storage, and Growth at Shell since November 2011, Stan is technically responsible for all related assets and projects. Previous roles include Functional Head of Petroleum Engineering for Acquisitions & Divestments, where responsibilities included evaluating numerous opportunities leading to significant financial deals. Stan also has extensive operational experience as Operations Manager at Petroleum Development Oman, where improvements in operations and maintenance earned high accolades. Early career contributions include pivotal roles in major projects like Sakhalin II and Bonga field, along with innovative research initiatives. Stan holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Amsterdam and an MSc in Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology.
