Principal Technical Expert for Pore Pressure Prediction in Shell

Walter Obendrauf is currently the Reserves Assurance and Reporting Lead for Shell in the Middle East and Oceania, leveraging over 26 years of experience in various leadership roles across Petroleum Engineering, Development, and Finance. They have demonstrated expertise in reserves estimation and assurance, significantly reducing pore pressure-related incidents by 80% and leading to Shell's processes being recognized as industry best practices. Walter has played a pivotal role in high-impact business reviews, including a complete re-evaluation of Shell’s shale business, while also contributing to the development of training materials and technical standards in pore pressure prediction. They previously served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Leoben, supervising numerous research projects and contributing to scientific literature. Walter is pursuing both an M.Sc. in Physics and a Ph.D. at the University of Technology, Graz, and the University of Leoben, respectively.
