Sheltr Community Works is a BC non-profit developer building affordable family homes and community spaces that stay affordable for good. No developer profits, no flipping... just real places where working families can put down roots without getting priced out.

The housing crunch in BC is hitting hard. Rising costs are pushing nuclear families, teachers, tradespeople, care workers, newcomers out of the neighborhoods they belong in. The province needs hundreds of thousands more homes by 2030, with huge demand for 3+ bedroom units. Non-profits often lack the bandwidth to get projects off the ground, and private builders miss out on public land and funding that requires non-profit ownership. That's the missing middle gap we're here to fill.

Our approach cuts through that: zero-profit development, open-book budgeting, and partnerships with cities, landowners, and builders to unlock underused land. We align with programs like CMHC, BC Housing, and Build Canada Homes to deliver multiplexes with built-in supports: rent stability funds, on-site childcare, and family grants. Everything stays in public hands, with surplus reinvested for long-term community benefit.

We're starting with small-scale pilots focused on family-friendly designs near schools, parks, and daily needs. If you're a municipality, funder, or builder ready to make housing work for people, not profits, let's talk. Visit sheltrcommunityworks.com or connect here.
