Dirk Schroeder has a extensive work experience in the fields of healthcare innovation, entrepreneurship, and consulting. Dirk is currently the Managing Director of Advancing Health Innovation in Africa (AHIA) at Emory University, where they work to identify and support African biomedical scientists and innovators. In addition, they serve as the Chief Strategy Officer at Shepherd, a mobile platform for family caregivers, and as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Emory Goizueta Business School. Dirk has also held various roles at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health, including Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship & Global Health. Dirk has served on the boards of Telligen and Loh Medical, and is the Founder & CEO of Updraft Health Innovation Advisors. Dirk co-founded HolaDoctor, a leading online Hispanic health community, and served as the Co-Founder & Executive VP before it was acquired by Pan-American Life Insurance Group, where they then became the Executive Vice-President of Consulting and Research. Prior to that, they worked as a Latino Health Strategy Consultant at Press 2 Advisors. Dirk has a passion for digital health, impact investing, and partnering with business and public health schools to accelerate healthcare transformation.
Dirk Schroeder completed their B.A. in Human Biology at Stanford University from 1979 to 1984. Dirk then pursued further education at The Johns Hopkins University, where they obtained a Doctor of Science and a Master in Public Health (MPH) in International Health from 1987 to 1991. Subsequently, Schroeder enrolled in Cornell University as a Post-Doctoral Fellow specializing in International Nutrition from 1991 to 1993.
