Alex Fields

Alex Fields is an experienced engineering professional currently serving as an Engineering Manager and previously as an Electrical Engineer at Shield AI since February 2020. Prior to this role, Alex worked at General Atomics as an Integration Engineer and at SensorMetrix as a Research and Development Engineer, focusing on troubleshooting electronics, designing microcontroller sensing software, and developing UI software. Academic experience includes work as a Visiting Researcher at Pourmand Lab UCSC, optimizing nanopipette biosensors, and as an Undergraduate Researcher at Collins Lab UCSD, conducting biophysical research on hydra vulgaris. Alex also held positions as a Resident Assistant and Orientation Leader at UC San Diego, supporting new students' transition to college life. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from UC San Diego, earned in 2017.
