QA Engineer at Shieldpay

Nick Wake has worked in the tech industry since 2014. Nick began their career at Diligenta, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services, as a Real Time Analyst. In 2016, they moved to CleverHR: Financial Services Recruitment as a Career Consultant. In 2017, they joined Volo Commerce as a QA Engineer and Technical Support Analyst. During this time, they used Cypher to query data stored in a Neo4j graph database, data warehoused with relational databases such as Postgres, and created wire-frames with Product Owners to design UI pages. In 2019, they worked as a QA Test Analyst at PSI Services LLC, where they created a regression Selenium suite using C# and SpecFlow with over 150 UI tests, and manually tested changes for 2 webapps and one mobile app in line with the 2 week sprint. Nick also created postman tests to run automatically within Azure Pipelines. Later in 2019, they worked as a Test Analyst at XQ Cyber, where they created, edited and fixed Behat automation tests using Gherkin syntax, performed manual tests where necessary to fit sprint plans and goals, and was comfortable with PHP to read through code changes in pull requests. In 2021, they joined thinkproject as a Test Engineer, where they set up a Selenium test pack in .NET and maintained its nightly run in Azure pipeline, and created an API test suite in Postman that ran in an automated Azure pipeline via Newman. Currently, they are working as a QA Engineer at Shieldpay, where they are writing and maintaining Cypress end-to-end tests in Typescript, investigating new testing methods such as snapshot visual regression testing, and creating component tests using the newest version of Cypress.

Nick Wake attended Chipping Sodbury School from 2005 to 2012, studying Business and IT. In November 2018, they obtained an ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level Certificate.
