Jonathan Staley

VP of Regulatory Affairs & General Counsel at SHINE Partners

Jonathan Staley has extensive work experience in the legal field, particularly in the area of renewable energy development. Jonathan started their career as an Associate at Latham & Watkins in 2007 before moving on to roles such as Division Head at Camp Dudley YMCA and Policy Analyst at America Bikes in 2003. In 2002, they served as a Legislative Fellow for the Hon. Sherwood Boehlert in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2010, they became the General Counsel at Distributed Sun LLC, where they provided strategic advice on legal, regulatory, and policy matters. From 2013, they founded their own law office, focusing on renewable energy development and emerging businesses. Staley also held leadership positions, such as being the VP of Regulatory Affairs & General Counsel at Shine Development Partners since 2016. Throughout their career, they have negotiated contracts, managed corporate transactions, and provided counsel on risk analysis, market conditions, and information security.

Jonathan Staley attended Deerfield Academy from 1995 to 1998. Jonathan then went on to study at Bowdoin College from 1998 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Government & Legal Studies. Later on, from 2004 to 2007, they pursued their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.
