Aaron Kimball

Aaron Kimball is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in software engineering and biotechnology. Currently serving as the Head of Engineering for Applications at Benchling since January 2023, Aaron leads the development of a premier cloud platform for life science R&D. As an advisor to the leadership teams at Shiru and LabGenius since September 2020, Aaron provides strategic insights to advance their missions. Previously, Aaron held the role of CTO at Zymergen, Inc. from April 2014 to April 2022, where leadership was demonstrated in scaling a technology department and building data-driven software systems for the life sciences. Aaron also founded WibiData, growing it to over 35 employees, and contributed significantly to the development of big data applications at Cloudera. Aaron's early career included internship roles at Google and Microsoft, complemented by a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Cornell University.
