Meet the people, the shoemakers and the stories behind Clarks shoes in the place where it all began in Street, Somerset. Over 100,000 objects spanning 200 years of shoemaking. Shoemakers Museum opens in Summer 2025.

The first Clarks factory opened 200 years ago in Street- A place of innovation, creativity and activism. From its Quaker origins in Somerset to its influence around the globe. The Shoemakers of Street have made a lasting mark on the world. Shoemakers Museum will make the collections of The Alfred Gillett Trust available for the public to experience.

In addition to the galleries exploring the making of place, shoes, buying and selling of shoes, a cafe, shop and education spaces are being created for visitors to enjoy. The museum aims to share and celebrate Somerset’s shoemaking heritage.
