Derek Chan is a Senior Staff Product Designer at Shopify, currently based in New York City. With a background as a product designer, artist, and teacher, Derek previously served as a Product Designer at Instagram from 2017 to 2021 and taught interaction design at the Fashion Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2016. Prior to these roles, Derek gained experience as a UX Designer at Canvas New York and held various positions at R/GA, including Senior Experience Designer.
