Liang-Wei Chen

Liang-Wei (Ben) Chen is a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Shopify, where they are building an AI-powered e-commerce search system. Previously, they served as a Senior/Principal Applied Scientist at Microsoft, leading the integration of LLM into Bing Search and improving ranking systems. Prior to that, Liang-Wei worked at Meta Facebook as a Software Engineer, specializing in backend recommendation systems and contributing to large-scale deep learning platforms. They earned a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science from National Taiwan University, graduating at the top of their class.
