Matthew Schwartz

Matthew Schwartz serves as the Associate General Counsel for Partnerships at Shopify since January 2023, focusing on complex partnerships that enhance Shopify's business through equity stakes. Previously, Matthew held the position of Associate General Counsel at Foursquare, where responsibilities included managing a team of commercial attorneys and overseeing legal negotiations for global products and services. Matthew's experience also encompasses senior legal roles at EPIX and Viacom, where involvement included content distribution and transactional entertainment law. Furthermore, Matthew's early career included positions as a Corporate Associate at Weil Gotshal and Manges and a consultant for the Gillibrand for Senate campaign, alongside an internship at Thirteen/WNET. Matthew holds a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, a certificate from The Wharton School in Business & Public Policy, and a BA in Government and Theater from Dartmouth College.
