Shotaro Kamio

Shotaro Kamio is a Search Engine Engineer with extensive experience in developing high-performance, distributed search engine systems, primarily at Rakuten Americas from 2015 to 2023. Shotaro has led the development of in-house search engine platforms and worked on improving search relevancy through machine learning techniques. Currently, Shotaro is a Staff Engineer at Shopify and previously held roles at Vantage Discovery and Rakuten International. Shotaro obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Tokyo, which complemented prior master's education in the same field.
