Vanessa Vuibert

Vanessa Vuibert is a Staff Engineer at Shopify since June 2018, providing technical leadership on Kafka and Flink platform optimizations, traffic management, and security, while mentoring a distributed team of engineers. Previously, as a Senior Production Engineer at Shopify, Vanessa led a project that enhanced Kafka cluster resiliency and reduced latency significantly, and contributed to the development of tracing for Kafka pipelines. Earlier experience includes serving as a Production Engineer, where Vanessa improved preparations for Black Friday Cyber Monday through SSL automation and Kafka producer failovers. Prior to Shopify, Vanessa worked as a Software Developer at Guavus, automating end-to-end testing of ETL pipelines and developing monitoring tools for data processes. Vanessa holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McGill University and two Bachelor’s Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Orleans and Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral.
