Alan Shuster

Alan Shuster is the current Chief Operating Officer at Shoptype. Prior to joining Shoptype, Alan served as an Advisor at Pressly from May 2014 to July 2017. Pressly is a communications platform for businesses to build authentic expert communities. At Pressly, Alan helped remove all friction around sharing to facilitate collaboration across employees, influencers and customers - turning any website into an engaged community.

Alan has also served on the Board of Directors for The University of British Columbia from February 2014 to January 2018, where they chaired the People, Community and International Committee. Alan was also a member of the Finance, Audit, Governance and Employee Relations Committees.

From May 2013 to May 2014, Alan served as the Chief Executive Officer at Whatsnexx. Prior to Whatsnexx, Alan was with Samsa Capital and Blast Radius Inc., where they served as Executive Vice President from January 2000 to December 2012.

At Samsa Capital, Alan invested in early-stage businesses and the real estate sector. Alan looked to partner with innovative and dynamic entrepreneurs and completed investments in marketing technology, software-as-a-service (SaaS), clean technology and consumer packaged goods businesses in North America, Europe and Israel. In addition to providing capital, Alan also provided advisory services to management teams across several areas including leadership mentoring, go-to-market strategies, sales optimization and operations.

After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from McGill University, Alan Shuster went on to earn a Bachelor of Laws from the same institution.
