Tom Downs

Tom Downs currently serves as a Mechanical Engineering Manager at Shure Incorporated, overseeing performance reviews and the professional development of engineers since May 2021. Prior to this role, Tom served as a Project Engineer and Senior Mechanical Engineer at Shure, leading product designs for audio consumer electronics and securing two patents. Tom has extensive experience in mechanical and thermal design, having previously worked as a Senior Thermal Mechanical Engineer at Tellabs and as a Thermal Engineer at AMPAC-ISP, focusing on thermal analyses for telecommunications and rocket engines. Tom holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University.
