Bill Spitzak is a seasoned software architect and engineer with extensive experience in the computer graphics industry. Currently serving as a Senior Software Architect at SideFX Software since April 2022, Bill specializes in Houdini. Previous roles include Senior Software Engineer at DreamWorks Animation, where contributions were made to C++17 development, Katana plugins, and the in-house Moonray renderer. Bill has also worked with Oblong Industries, Rhythm and Hues, and The Foundry Visionmongers, where significant advancements were made in rendering and compositing systems. Notably, Bill played a key role in designing and implementing the Nuke compositing system at Digital Domain, alongside earlier positions focused on software development at companies like Sidley Wright & Associates and Sun Microsystems. Bill holds an MFA in film production from the University of Southern California and a BS in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
