Peter Townsend

Peter Townsend has a diverse work experience in the technology and finance industry. Peter is currently the CTO & Co-Founder at Sidekick, a position they assumed in April 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Engineering Manager at NorthOne from May 2021 to February 2022. Before that, Peter held the role of Head of Engineering at Tandem Money, a mobile-first challenger bank, from February 2018 to June 2020, following its acquisition of Pariti Technologies, where they served as CTO from April 2015 to February 2018. Peter also has experience in management consultancy, having worked as a Digital Engineering Consultant at North Highland UK from September 2014 to April 2015. Peter began their career as a Software Development Manager at MoneySuperMarket.com from March 2014 to September 2014 and later at DMGT plc from June 2013 to March 2014. Peter's earlier roles include Technical Lead at Visionslive Limited from January 2012 to December 2012 and Director at Eight Bees Ltd from January 2012 to December 2012. Prior to that, they worked as a Lead Software Architect at Digital Distribution Networks (mflow) from October 2008 to December 2011.

Peter Townsend attended Lincoln High School, where they completed their secondary education. After graduating, they began their tertiary education at the University of Canterbury, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. Peter successfully completed the program in 2003. In addition to their formal education, Peter obtained a certification as a Certified Scrum Master from the Scrum Alliance in November 2014.
