Colin Schmidt

Colin Schmidt is a Senior Staff Engineer at SiFive, where employment began in May 2021, following a previous role as Staff Engineer. Prior experience includes serving as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, from August 2013 to August 2021, focusing on data-parallel vector architectures and the development of tools for RISC-V based SoCs. Colin also held an Engineering Intern position at SiFive in the summer of 2017, designing and testing upgrades to accelerator infrastructure. An earlier internship as a Software Development Engineer Intern took place at Amazon in the summer of 2012. Colin Schmidt earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, in May 2021, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Computer Engineering from Cornell University in 2013.
