Michael Parkin

Michael Parkin's work experience includes positions at several companies. Michael currently works at Sift as a Principal Engineer on the Machine Learning Platform Team. Michael has been in this role since May 2022. Previously at Sift, they held the same position from May 2021 to April 2022, working on the Machine Learning Platform Team. Prior to Sift, Michael worked at WANdisco as a Chief Architect & Distinguished Engineer from October 2015 to November 2016, and as a Distinguished Engineer from April 2015 to October 2015. Michael also held the position of Senior Software Engineer from January 2013 to April 2015 and Java Developer from January 2012 to December 2012 at WANdisco. Earlier in their career, they served as a Post-Doc Researcher at Tilburg University from October 2008 to September 2011, and as a CoreGRID Industrial Research Fellow at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya & ATOS Origin Research & Innovation, Barcelona from July 2007 to September 2008. Michael also worked as a Grid Developer & Systems Administrator at King's College London from September 2003 to March 2004. Prior to that, they held positions at BNP Paribas, JP Morgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, and Dimensions Plus.

Michael Parkin completed their education in the field of Computer Science and Physics. Michael obtained a BSc. degree in Physics from the University of Leicester in 1993. Following this, they pursued an MSc. degree in Computer Science from The University of Manchester, which they completed in 2003 with distinction. In 2007, they obtained a PhD. in Computer Science from The University of Manchester. Additionally, in 2018, they completed the "Architecting with Google Cloud Platform Specialization" certification from Coursera.
