Kurt DeMaagd is the Chief AI Officer and Co-Founder at Sight Machine. Kurt was previously an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University from January 2006 to September 2013. There, they did research, data analysis, machine learning, teaching and technical writing. Kurt was also a PhD student at the University of Michigan from January 2001 to December 2006, taking courses in business administration, information economics, information technology, statistics, and machine learning. Their dissertation was on the value of IT in developing countries. Kurt was also the Director at The Perl Foundation from January 2000 to July 2017, where they were responsible for treasurer, conference management, and general management. Prior to that, they were a co-founder and business manager at Blockstackers (slashdot.org) from January 1999 to January 2001. Before that, they were the Lead Software Developer at The Image Group from January 1996 to January 1999.

Kurt DeMaagd received their Ph.D in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Kurt also holds a B.S in Computer Science from Hope College.

They work with Nathan Oostendorp - CTO & Co-Founder, Jeff Chalmers - VP, Finance & Operations, and Andrew Home - VP, Product. Kurt DeMaagd reports to Jon Sobel, CEO & Co-Founder.
