Philip Downs serves as the NTD Technical Director at Sightsavers since March 2017, bringing extensive experience in public health management. Previously, Philip held multiple roles at RTI International from September 2009 to March 2017, including Senior Manager and Technical Advisor within the Neglected Tropical Disease Control Program and Project Manager for Integrated Vector Management. Philip's earlier experience includes serving as Assistant Director for the Guinea Worm Eradication and Trachoma Control Programs at The Carter Center from September 2002 to September 2009 and volunteer positions focused on water, sanitation, and health extension with the Peace Corps in Ivory Coast from 1997 to 1999. Academically, Philip earned a DrPH in International Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MPH in Program Management and Evaluation from Emory University, and a BA in Medical Anthropology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, complemented by studies at The American University in Cairo.
