Kaela Dickens has a wide range of work experience beginning in 2010. In 2010, they worked for World Learning as a Study Abroad Argentina Human Rights and Social Movements. In 2011, they worked for San Antonio Housing Authority/Trinity University as a HUD Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant Research Assistant. In 2012, they worked for United Way of San Antonio/Trinity University as a Student Researcher, Trinity University as a Statistical Analysis for San Antonio Regional Alliance for the Homeless (SARAH), and Virtú Investments as a Community Facilitator. In 2014, they worked for the City of Brooklyn Park, MN as a Management System Coordinator, City Management Fellow, and GIS Intern/Planning and Development Intern. In 2017, they founded and owned Kaela L. Dickens Consulting, providing organizational management and facilitation services. In 2019, they worked for DataDrive as a Director, Client Strategy Lead & Senior Analytics Consultant. Finally, in 2022, they will work for Sigma Computing as a Senior Customer Success Manager, Enterprise.

Kaela Dickens has a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Minnesota, which they obtained between 2014 and 2016. Kaela also has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Spanish & Sociology from Trinity University which they obtained between 2008 and 2012. Additionally, they have two certifications from Tableau, a Tableau Certified Associate Consultant (Partner) which they obtained in October 2021 and a Tableau Desktop Qualified Associate Certification which they obtained in October 2019.
