Robert Fan

President of SMI USA at Silicon Motion

Robert Fan is currently the President of SMI USA at Silicon Motion. Robert has over 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, including executive roles in marketing, product management, and business development.

Fan began their career as a hardware design engineer at Olivetti. Robert then transitioned into marketing, joining Intel Corporation in 1991 as a Senior Marketing Manager in the Mobile Platform Group. In 2000, they moved to Resonext Communications Inc., where they served as Vice President of Marketing and Sales. Resonext was acquired by RFMD in 2002.

In 2004, Fan joined Berkana Wireless as Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. Robert helped grow the company until it was acquired by Qualcomm in 2006. Following the acquisition, Fan took on the role of Segment Marketing/Business Development Director at Spansion from 2010 to 2013.

In 2014, Fan joined Silicon Motion as President of SMI USA. Under their leadership, the company has continued to grow and innovate, becoming one of the leading fabless semiconductor companies in the world.

Robert Fan has a MS in EECS from Santa Clara University, a General Management Executive Program in Business Administration and Management, General from The University of Texas at Austin, and a BS in EECS from University of California, Berkeley.

Robert Fan reports to Wallace C. Kou, President & CEO. Robert Fan works with Nelson S. Duann - SVP Marketing and R&D, Mobile Storage and Director, Riyadh Lai - CFO, and Ken Chen - VP of Operations.
